Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the mobile application Dera — Daily Diary & Journal(“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not download, install, or use the App.

2. Privacy and Personal Data Ownership

Dera is designed with a local-first architecture. Any journal entries, logs, attached media files (including photos, drawings, and voice notes), mood tags, or other inputs you make within the App are stored directly on your physical mobile device.

You retain 100% ownership and intellectual property rights over all content you write, record, or upload. We do not store, inspect, transmit, or monetize your journal entries. You are entirely responsible for the security of your device and the maintenance of your local logs.

3. Google Drive Sync and Cloud Backups

The App provides an optional feature allowing you to sync and back up your journal database to your personal Google Drive account.

• By using the Google Drive sync feature, you authenticate directly with Google Services.
• Dera utilizes a secure, sandboxed folder (`appDataFolder`) within your Google Drive, meaning other applications cannot access your journal database, and Dera itself cannot access any other files on your Google Drive.
• You agree that Dera has no control over Google Drive services and is not liable for data loss, service outages, or unauthorized access to your Google Account.

4. Premium VIP Subscriptions and Watch Ads

Dera offers premium VIP features that can be unlocked via in-app purchases (IAP) or temporarily by watching rewarded advertisements (Google AdMob).

Subscriptions or one-time premium purchases are handled through the Google Play Store billing service. All transactions, billing disputes, and cancellation requests must be processed through Google Play. Temporary ad-unlocked features last for a specified period (e.g., 24 hours) or until the app session ends, as described within the App.

5. Device Permissions and Security

To provide core features, the App requests permissions including local storage/media access (to attach photos), microphone access (to record audio journals), and biometric authentication (for the secure app lock). You are responsible for configuring security passcodes and biometric pins. Dera is not liable for unauthorized physical access to your device.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Dera — Daily Diary & Journal and its developers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use or inability to use the App, including but not limited to the accidental loss of journal entries, database corruptions, device failures, or unauthorized access to your device. You are highly encouraged to perform manual backups (using our JSON export option) periodically.

7. Changes to Terms

We reserves the right to modify or update these Terms at any time. We will indicate revisions by updating the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the App following updates constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
